  • Overview

    The Test Automation Engineer / Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) writes and maintains test plans, test cases, test summary reports, and other relevant test documentation (including test defect analysis reports), executes test cases according to project test plans, documents defects in defect tracking tools, reviews new or modified programs, including documentation, diagram, and flowcharts and monitors program performance after implementation.  This tester is focused on developing and maintaining automated test cases.


    • Ability to work well within an Agile development environment
    • Evaluates and tests new or modified software programs and software development procedures used
    • Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to attain quality of software economically and efficiently
    • Reviews new or modified program, including documentation, diagram, and flow chart, to determine if program will perform according to user request and conform to guidelines
    • Reviews computer operating logs to identify program processing errors
    • Inputs instructions into computer to test programs for validity of results, accuracy, reliability, and conformance to establishment standards
    • Sets up tests at the request of users to locate and correct program operating errors following installation of program
    • Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent re-occurrence of program operating problems and ensures efficiency of operation
    • Writes documentation to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction




    • U.S. Citizenship Required
    • Recent college graduate or experience as application tester; 1 - 3 years of professional experience testing functional programs and applications a plus
    • BSc/BA; Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree desirable
    • Ability to use testing tools, with automated testing suite experience a plus (Selenium, TestStack.White, Mocha, Protractor, etc)
    • JavaScript experience is a plus
    • Strong ability to analyze requirements and convert to detailed test cases (positive, negative, exceptions, etc…)
    • Understands software testing methodologies and techniques, such as front-end functional testing, system integration testing, performance and load testing
    • Ability to write test plans, cases and record/track defects
    • Understands latest software development methodologies
    • Resolves problems independently

    • Creative and independent problem solver
    • Federal Government project experience desired
    • Great attention to detail and time-management skills
