    The Sr. AWS Architect works directly with customers and engineers, providing technical leadership, bringing technology expertise and architecture experience. This position provides hands-on technical design and implementation ensuring technologies are successfully incorporated into customer environments. Functions as part of a highly skilled Agile development and Architecture team supporting major government cloud programs providing thought leadership.



    The Sr AWS Architect has overall responsibility for the system infrastructure and design, as well as Operations and Maintenance. This individual shall plan, research, and continually evaluate tools and architecture applying engineering, hardware and software design theories, principles and experience to maintaining and continually enhancing the architecture and Data Warehouse. This resource will also guide the infrastructure team on system monitoring, performance, reporting and logs analysis to maintain efficient interface operation and component integration.

    • Designs and defines Amazon Web Services architecture for new cloud computing systems or existing systems migrating to cloud architectures.
    • Performs expert-level systems AWS development and design work that may include logical system design; I/O design; cloud architecture analysis and design; and systems engineering.
    • Develops technical roadmaps for future AWS cloud implementations.
    • Develops business case analysis on potential projects.
    • Ensures security is integrated into all cloud architecture solutions by understanding FISMA, NIST, and agency specific security frameworks.
    • Performs advanced systems modeling, simulation, and analysis to guide major architecture and procurement decisions.
    • Acts as a subject-matter expert to multiple tasks and/or programs, but self-aware enough to know personal technical limits.
    • Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.
    • Plans and directs upgrades and designs systems enhancements.
    • Identifies; analyzes; and resolves system problems (acts as high level escalation during maintenance windows).
    • Determines system specifications; input/output processes; and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
      • 5 or more years of relevant experience working in a Federal Law Enforcement environment
      • Experience with:
        • RedHat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform Server Administration
        • RedHat JBoss FUSE (Apache Camel)
        • Camel Route Design, Development, and Testing using Spring XML Domain-Specific Language
        • Spring and Spring Web Services (HTTP/SOAP)
        • Message queue technologies to include ICM MQ and Apache ActiveMQ, with a focus on high-availability topologies
        • Oracle RDBMS, including performance tuning
        • Relational Database Technologies – Oracle
        • Cognos, ODI, ETL, Tableau
        • Java, .Net
        • SSL/TLS and PKI based authentication
        • Load Balancing and High-Availability Solution Architecture


    U.S. Citizenship Required

    • Required:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
      • Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment leading major systems development and integration efforts across a mixed platform:
      • Broad Expertise designing, developing, testing and supporting complex Cloud architecture solutions, including high transaction volume systems
      • Significant experience and skills with solution development based on Enterprise Integration Patterns, including hub/service-bus models
      • Experience in implementing secure information exchanges and protecting mission critical data at rest and in transmission
      • Leadership experience in instructing, directing, and offering technical expertise to large development teams.
      • Experience with planning and implementing IT Infrastructure systems by applying engineering, hardware and software design theories and principles to develop a compatible system infrastructure in line with organizational strategies;
      • Experience with IT Infrastructure performance and traffic analysis;
      • Demonstrated experience with information security engineering practices and experience with implementation of NIST security controls;
      • Experience with IT Infrastructure engineering policies, standards and procedures;
      • Experience with DevOps pipeline tools including configuration management, requirements (e.g. JIRA), automated testing, and deployment
      • Demonstrated experience with logical and physical data modeling
      • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
      • Master’s Degree preferred.
      • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate required.
      • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional required
